Eligible ACA Health members can join a government approved research trial run by the ELIA Lifestyle Medicine Centre. It’s a 12-week, evidence-based diabetes program aiming to demonstrate that type 2 diabetes remission is possible.

It’s a structured, multi‑disciplinary program for people living with Type 2 Diabetes, delivered by the ELIA Lifestyle Medicine Centre (based at Sydney Adventist Hospital). This program is currently operating as a trial with expanded eligibility to broaden access.

What’s covered:

Participation in the full ELIA Diabetes Clinical Program, including:

• Personalised care from medical doctors and registered nurses certified in lifestyle medicine
• Individual consultations with specialist healthcare professionals
•  Group exercise classes led by exercise physiologists
• Nutrition workshops conducted by qualified dietitians
• Health coaching sessions for ongoing motivation and progress tracking

What’s included:

• Comprehensive lifestyle medicine assessment
• Nutrition, physical activity, sleep and stress management coaching
• Diabetes self‑management education and monitoring
• Regular follow‑up and outcome tracking

Eligibility:

• Members with Silver or Gold Hospital and Complete or Mid Ancillary cover
• Must have held eligible membership level (above) for at least 12 months
• Must have prediabetes or type 2 diabetes
• Sydney and surrounding areas
• Silver Plus members also included (trial basis) 
• The program is paid by ACA Health so it’s important that you complete the program to receive the full benefit.

Why completion matters (trial)

Your outcomes help determine whether ELIA can continue offering this service to members. If sufficient benefits are not demonstrated from patient results, the Health Department may not grant approval to continue the program. Please commit to completing all modules and reviews
